Lyon dismisses Grosso after just seven matches

In September, Grosso took over from Laurent Blanc, who had experienced the worst season start ever with Lyon, gaining just one point from the first four matches.

However, under Grosso, things didn't improve much. Lyon is still at the bottom of Ligue 1 with seven points after twelve games.

Therefore, the club management decided to remove Grosso from his position. This makes the coaching tenure of the club's former defender last exactly seven matches. Just before the international break, he managed to secure the first league victory of the season by winning against Stade Rennes. A defeat against Lille followed on Sunday.

Pierre Sage will temporarily take over the reins at Lyon. Meanwhile, Lyon is considering the options to terminate Grosso's contract. According to RMC Sport, the club is already actively searching for a suitable replacement. Bruno Génésio, Jorge Sampaoli, and Igor Tudor are reportedly the main candidates to fill the vacancy.

The low point for Grosso during his time at Lyon was the match against Olympique Marseille. The opposing fans pelted Lyon's team bus with stones, resulting in serious facial injuries for Grosso.
